Information and Communication Technology for Development Initiative Facility in Asia and the Pacific

The TA project supported DMCs to test new innovative technologies and leapfrog to the use of cutting-edge technologies to address the development issues. Once the value of digital solutions was proven through pilots, the TA project has supported operational departments to scale up the digital solutions. The TA project customized the digital solutions implemented in a country to another country adjusted to the specific contexts. For example, the TA project supported an initial diagnostic study of the national ID system in the Philippines. After the national ID law (Republic Act 11055) was passed in August 2018, ADB’s Office of Public–Private Partnership, the Southeast Asia Department, and SDCC are now supporting the nationwide implementation of the national ID system in the Philippines, which built on the initial diagnostic study.
