COVID-19 Active Response and Expenditure Support Program

Maintaining economic growth and protecting the vulnerable in crisis situations demand timely intervention and sizable stimulus package. The success of the government countercyclical program in maintaining economic growth and protecting vulnerable populations validated the effectiveness of the government’s approach. The highly pro-poor, socially inclusive measures; sizable, direct, and timely cash infusion into the economy; and wage support for enterprises all proved efffective in achieving the government’s objectives—to protect vulnerable populations, cushion the economy, and preserve jobs. Strong Gender elements in the program and the successful implementation of Gender-related activities indicate the government’s commitment to Gender equity and Gender action plans
