Lessons from impact assessments undertaken by the government need to be explored for possible replication or application in future crisis response operations. In addition to monitoring of program expenditures; the government conducted its own assessment of program results; such as the social impact of cash transfer programs on affected people. For instance; more than 7;000 respondents in a 2022 government survey indicated their satisfaction with several of the government’s large support schemes; including the Khonlakrueng (50:50 copayment scheme) that focused on boosting the purchasing power of special needs groups and state welfare cardholders; assisting more than 40 million people (almost 60% of Thailand’s population) by the end of quarter 2 of 2022. There is opportunity to learn from these impact assessment activities so they can be broadened and integrated into future crisis response measures.
