Health Sector Governance Program (Subprograms 1 and 2)

Understanding and addressing the needs of all those involved in the sector. The health system requires two types of personnel: (i) health services providers; and (ii) administrative personnel responsible for planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and monitoring. Both need to be involved. The HSGP not only strengthened management capacity in the health sector, but also addressed the needs of the health services providers for a better pre-service training (through accreditation of health training institutions), and a better recognition of their qualifications (through registration, and licensing)—to be maintained by continuous training.
