ADB involvement in high-level discussions was very much appreciated by the government. Moreover, the new team in the executing agency of MEGNR was able to organize the final workshop to discuss the proposed KKC-IWRM’s structure and future support of the government. Acknowledging the needs of the government for the sustainable water sector development, the MEGNR and the Committee for Water Resources requested additional assistance from ADB for knowledge and capacity building support in IWRM to introduce policy reforms and a new strategy.

Much bigger and more systematic safety issues need to be tackled, including safety technologies in vehicles, legal and compliance systems, some of which is under other agencies. Road safety needs its own investment focus through a multi-sectoral governance system. It is recommended that policy dialogues of needed institutional arrangements across the government stakeholders will continue during the implementation of ADB-financed projects.

The participation of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka during the in_x005F_x0002_country inception workshop enabled the Department of Census and Statistics to effectively plan and design the questionnaire for the country’s first Agricultural Household Survey.
