Support for Value Chain Development under the Nepal Agriculture Development Strategy

The TCR lesson is not clearly articulated as a lesson. In finalizing this validation report, the NRM rephrased the lesson and provided additional information: ADB’s continuing support remains essential in pursuing policy reforms and building government capacity in project implementation. A TA for $500,000 under the Food Safety and Agriculture Commercialization Program will support the government in meeting the second tranche policy actions. TA resources will also be required to prepare the detailed design of the new investment project that is being discussed with the government, given the government’s weak capacity for project development. Furthermore, to sustain and deepen the reforms driven under the ADB program, a longer engagement of ADB or other development partners is foreseen to expand, for example, pesticide residue testing beyond the pilot that the program will perform
