Establishment of Kazakstan Knowledge Center on Integrated Water Resources Management

The TA’s main output was to formulate the plan on the KKC-IWRM’s establishment for water issues consistent with the government’s vision. The MEGNR will use the structure for the existing institution and strengthen its capacity with proposed recommendations and the best available international experience. A TA for $500,000 is piggybacked to the Food Safety and Agriculture Commercialization Program to support the Government in meeting the second tranche policy actions. Donors and the private sector are motivated to invest in areas where strategic development has already commenced, and where strategic plans are in place that have a coordinated long-term focus, and which can clearly demonstrate positive project outcomes.

Promoting Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment (Phase 2)

A follow-on TA with a similar structure (R-CDTA 9660) was approved in late 2018 to continue with gender operational support and innovation to support the implementation of the new Gender Operational Plan. In addition, other proposals have been prepared for continued support to some of the subprojects (e.g., FCFWI Tbilisi and Bandung) from funds available from the ADB Governance and Urban sector and thematic groups.
