Post-TA financial resources

This validation notes that the TA on "Early Harvest" Implementation of the Cross-Border Transport and Trade Facilitation in the GMS, was approved on 22 October 2020, with an amount of $1.5 million financed by the United Kingdom Fund for Asia Regional Trade and Connectivity under the Regional Cooperation and Integration Financing Partnership Facility (footnote 19). The TA report indicated that it has been designed to build on the outputs delivered by the present cluster RETA.

Subsequent TA to continue support to transport services liberalization in the GMS is being finalized. Funding of $1,500,000 under United Kingdom Government of Asia Regional Trade and Connectivity Fund has been secured.

Updating of cross-border transmission lines master plan along with the inclusion of Myanmar, facilitating further dialogue for actual implementation of cross-border transmission line, and exploring possibilities for inter-subregional power trade (e.g., with Central and West Asia) will be pursued through follow on TA projects.

KEGOC has plans to procure additional PowerFactory licenses in 2020 using its own resources.

Since PowerFactory became the primary system planning platform, KEGOC is planning to procure additional licenses and modules from DIgSILENT in 2020 using its own resources.

Reporting on the role of private sector engagement post-TA would have been a good recommendation for a potential follow-on TA and would help contribute to sustainability.

Although interesting, this lesson learned does not provide a learning opportunity for future TAs. A more specific lesson could be that outputs delivered can provide a base for future interventions to build on, such as this TA’s trade portal, which is a tool to support investors and exporters.

The TA outputs have provided a base on which future interventions could be tailored. This includes the government support for implementation of innovation strategy roadmap, resources allocated for new export insurance products, as well as the MOE commitment to maintain and further develop the trade portal as a tool to support investors and exporters.

This is not a lesson pertaining to post_x005F_x0002_TA financial resources, but just provides information on further resources after the TA implementation.

In 2018, ADB has approved a TRTA for an amount of $1,500,0009 to continue and expand activities under this TA.
