Continued engagement with the government on macroeconomic and structural reforms will maximize program benefits. This program was an integral part of ADB’s overall country support activities and backed the government’s strong commitment to state-owned enterprise reform and structural macroeconomic reform. Particularly through technical assistance to strengthen economic management, it supported macroeconomic stability, sustained growth, and project preparation. A $100 million loan, which focused on the health sector and steadily improved testing, diagnosis, and case management, strengthened the country’s resilience to public health emergencies, including COVID-19. Structural reforms were also supported through a policy-based loan to improve the enabling environment for small and medium enterprise development. Given its success, ADB must continue to work closely with stakeholders to further move reforms forward.
