Inaccurate engineering designs at project appraisal, especially when equipment and/or components essential to the project performance are not considered, can increase project costs during project implementation and may even cause delays because of a lack of loan funds. Therefore, additional financing sources and longer implementation periods shall be considered for projects without detailed and accurate designs.
