Madhya Pradesh State Roads Project III

The project incorporated and implemented several road safety measures. Although fatal accidents were reduced, the number of accidents is high, which largely reflects negligent driver behavior, violation of traffic rules, speeding, lack of enforcement, mixed traffic conditions, and inadequate road safety awareness. This issue may be more pronounced where the number of agricultural vehicles is high. Being a systemic issue in India, the government needs to make more efforts in driver training, enforcement of traffic rules, and safety awareness.
