Another major reason for poor performance of the PNB was its inability to scale up individual subloans through either the Renewable Energy Services Company (RESCO) or demand aggregation of smaller subprojects, be they in the commercial and industrial sector, MSME, or residential sector. With the government’s increased focus on the residential sector and the evolution of various innovative discom-centric business models, these need to be explored in future iteration of this program, as well as any other financing initiatives in the solar rooftop segment.
