Partnership with United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID) helped extensively to supplement the efforts in related activities under RETA 8619 and expand the capacity development on Bangladesh and Nepal. The cluster TA funded travel-related expenses of participants from Bangladesh and Nepal on the SASEC Cross-border Power Trade Development Study Tour held in Nord Pool Spot, Oslo, Norway, while RETA 8619 funded those of participants from other SASEC member countries.

The same project officer handled the sole subproject under the cluster TA from the start to the end. There was also no change in consultants at any stage. They were found to be highly qualified for the tasks assigned. The SASEC Transmission Master Plan is expected to be updated and expanded soon to include Myanmar, which exercise has been eased by the availability of requisite databases. The findings of the feasibility study on power trading companies in Bangladesh and Nepal would help similar studies on other countries.
